odds and ends

what better day to start the day than with garfield? (ok i admit, there are plenty more "better" ways to start the day, but what the heck, i have a yen for cliches this morning)

on another note, oatmeal could definitely do with some livening up :-

says the quaker website:
"A prehistoric adventure begins as soon as kids empty the packet of brown sugar-flavored oatmeal into their bowl, add boiling water and begin to stir! Within seconds, dinosaur eggs hatch
into brightly colored baby stegosaurus and triceratops."

garfield + baby dinaosaurs? maketh me morning happy!

a little bit of this and a little bit of that and a whole lot of miles (and very few blog posts) later, here i am in a totally new job, completely new city in a never lived before (didn't want to keep saying new) state. a la smallville, katrinaland, i tend to refer to my new hometown Tampa, Florida in many, many ways: lizardville, sweat-a-lotsville, happy(?)- tan-land, what-do-you-mean-snow-ville (yay!), what-do-you-mean-public-transport-land, save-a-lot-puram and so on and so forth. as anyone who moves after four years in a place like washington dc/northern virginia, i was prone to bouts of separation anxiety the first few days (you know what i mean, bouts of "well in virginia, drivers arent so crazy" or "well, in virginia, 4 way junctions actually have stop signs"). who would think i had spent 22 years of my life outside of the US? this is precisely what drove dear R up the walls (of the car i mean. u see seemed to me like we were constantly driving to one place or the other.) which brings me back to why i moved. i just did what any girl would do when charmed out of her socks by an exceptional boy (that was the last of any plugs for u R :-P)

so, while i try not to look at event listings in washington dc (aerosmith concerts, exclusive invitations to masquerade balls and the ooportunity for close encoounters with Amjad Ali Khan & Sons) i'm excited about the prospect of discovering an entire gamut of possibilities in a whole new town with an extremely special person. am sure as hell going to be back to blogging normally, so join the ride!
